I go through periods of searching for Moebius stuff every few years, grabbing enough out of what's currently available to sate my thirst and deplete my bank balance. I am in the UK and already very familiar with bookpalace, having picked up a nice print of Starwatcher 4 from there about a decade ago. It's that pure B&W art I'm after! I have both the Epic colour originals, and the humanoids recolour, so you better believe I'll be comparing all three side by side when I get it!

Same goes for me with the French, but like you I've read the incal enough times that I know the story by heart, so I'm not worried about that. There’s so many great pages that I couldn’t stop taking pictures! That quickly transitions to side-by-side comparisons of Incal Noir et Blanc and the Graphitti Designs versions. In the beginning of the album I chose early pages that really show off the linework. Moebius’ linework is brilliant and his use of blacks in the final two volumes really pop without the colors weighing everything down. It’s a bit pricey so I waited till recently to purchase it. This past February they released L’Incal Noir et Blanc Integrale and like the title indicates, there’s no color. Thankfully, the French Humanoids publisher likes to give their readers lots of options. I find the colors a bit garish and obscuring of the linework. I thought then, and still think now, that the coloring is quite poor in the first few volumes. Years later when Humanoids finally released the Incal with the original coloring I was happy to finally read it as intended.

At the time though I wasn’t aware that I’d fallen in love with a bastardized version. If you don’t know, the coloring on those volumes is horrendous. My first introduction to The Incal was the Humanoids/DC paperbacks about 15 years ago.
